Tonight is all about 3D. Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas is showing in 3D at the El Capitan Theatre, with a filmmaker Q&A after the 7:00 screening. The names of the actual participants haven’t been announced yet, and the suspense is killing me. Maybe director Henry Selick? Or 3D producer Don Hahn?

Then at 8:00, AMPAS’ Science and Technology Council is hosting “Getting Perspective II: The Art and Science of 3D Motion Pictures.” Rob Hummel will emcee an evening that includes clips from a new digital version of Muppet*Vision 3D and a discussion with people like Eric Brevig (Journey to the Center of the Earth) and Bruce Hendricks (Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour).
