Mainstream tech must work

Let’s put aside the rediscovery that Macs can get viruses, mainly because the topic quickly degenerates into a pointless platform war. Instead, let’s look at how Apple is faring with advertising standards bodies. The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority recently pulled two separate Apple ad campaigns, ruling that it misleadingly exaggerated the iPhone browser speed and that it couldn’t claim full Internet access since it doesn’t support Flash or Java. I believe we’ll see more and more situations like this as tech continues to go mainstream and beyond tech-savvy people who tolerate how flawed their gadgets are.
