I adore being dressed in something frilly

Dell DellaI enjoyed this rant by Suzanne Choney and this one by Austin Modine on the topic of Dell’s new girlie computers. There were many other rants, too, including mine over the phone to several friends.

These PCs come in cute colors and have a dedicated Della website with fascinating tech tips for the gal on the go. Did you know you can “do a lot more than check your e-mail” on a computer? You can count calories! And shop! I’m sure glad they’re netbooks or I might need a big strong man to carry it for me.

To be fair to Dell, they quickly felt the heat and revamped the site to be less condescending. Now the girlie stuff is integrated throughout the regular options, just as it should be.

(Title lyric by Rodgers and Hammerstein.)
